Think of an old fashioned Christmas. What comes to mind? Often your thoughts are full of greenery, the natural look of bringing all outdoors inside – a wonderful thing to do, especially in the bleak gray and white of winter.

There is, of course, the traditional greenery, from fir trees to wreaths to boughs of holly. Also among the yuletide favorites is the traditional Christmas Flower; the ever popular and festive poinsettia (now available in pink, as well as red or white) or Christmas baskets, overflowing with all kinds of goodies, from fruits to cheeses, to gourmet chocolates, wines, and spa collections.

Don’t forget the ivy when you’re thinking about holly. These give a great look when draped over mantelpieces, across the top of a doorframe, or even weaved together as a memorable wreath. Consider accenting a Christmas Gift Basket with holly and ivy, too. It gives the basket a special holiday touch.

For the romantics in the crowd, or just those who enjoy the game of the thing, don’t forget the mistletoe. Legend has it that they promote life and fertility, as well as love. There are few holiday aphrodisiacs that provide such amusement while boosting that holiday spirit at the same time.

One of the more popular unique choices in Christmas Flowers is the amaryllis. Known for its long-lasting blooms, the amaryllis is also a perennial flower, its long, graceful stem and radiant red blossom springing from a bulb that the receiver can plant outside after the holidays. The amaryllis should bloom for four to six weeks. Following that, if you simply remove the wilted blooms and put the plant in a well-lighted place, it will continue to produce fresh blossoms beyond the holiday season.

Other bulb-based flowers available during the holidays include hyacinths, daffodils and tulips. If purchased as bulbs, they will usually bloom four to eight weeks after planting. Consider not only a single blossom in a festive planter (one that can be used by the recipient after the holidays is best), but group together in display fashion on a corner table.

Another pretty Christmas Flower is the narcissus. Perfect for display in one’s kitchen, the plant should be placed in a sunny area, like a deep-set window.

The Christmas cactus also makes a good gift or decoration around the holidays. One of the easiest Christmas plants to care for, its blooms can now be found several colors besides the traditional red. These include pink, lavender, orange and white.

One of the best choices for a bit of Christmas greenery, especially for a family member in a nursing home or hospital is the small tabletop Christmas trees. Suitable for decorating just like their big sisters and brothers, they can be purchased either as a stand alone Christmas Flower or as a potted item which can later be planted outdoors. Empty nesters who no longer wish to go the big Christmas tree route may also find this a delightful way to still have the decorated evergreen feel without all the extra effort that erecting and decorating a room-sized tree involves. Several varieties of the small fir tree are available, including the Dwarf Alberta Spruce and the Italian stone pine.

Many florists also offer Christmas centerpiece arrangements as well as a variety of Christmas Gift Baskets. They come in a variety of styles and offer a wide range of featured plants. These make a great gift for family members at a distance, making it possible for you to make a “virtual visit” to their home on Christmas, as they’ll be thinking of you when they sit down to eat their holiday meal.

For many addicts, making it into treatment involves overcoming a plethora of irrational, deep-seated fears embedded in the back of every addict’s mind. To begin with, the prospect of entering into any form of drug rehab program is daunting, and the idea of submitting to a residential treatment program seems like an addict’s worst nightmare. An addict’s overriding concern is his own comfort, and comfort for the addict is closely aligned with control. Addicts want complete control of their environment, and this desire for control motivates the addict to continue to use; the addict uses drugs to control feelings and emotions, to limit the amount of interaction with the “real world” that the addict must face. Even when all logic tells the addict that his addiction must end or he will surely die or wind up in prison, the addict fears the end of the addiction more than he fears those consequences. Why?

Because the addict has spent a significant period of time using drugs to avoid the real world, he has lost touch with what real life is like. He has become a stranger to what he thinks of as “normal” life and is afraid of the great unknown that it represents. In “normal” life, all sorts of unpleasant things occur, from deaths to simple arguments with loved ones, and “normal” people cope with those events. The addict either never developed or long ago abandoned coping skills in favor of utilizing drugs as tools for buffering the unpleasant parts of life. He does not face deaths or arguments; instead, he gets drunk or stoned and thereby avoids having to feel the often painful emotions that go along with bad events. The addict fears being cast into a world full of potential pain without the tools (his drugs) that he normally uses to cushion the blow.
Presented with the idea of entering a drug treatment center, many addicts steadfastly avoid enrolling, while life on the outside continues to crumble toward total ruin. Too often, it is only at the point when the addict’s life has come crashing to rock bottom that finally, faced with utter defeat, the addict reluctantly turns to treatment as the only remaining path to take, other than death or jail.

In reality, drug treatment offers the addict his first opportunity to taste true freedom and take control of his own life. Once his mind is free of the immediate influence of drugs, an addict finally has the opportunity to take a look at where he has been, to evaluate his options, and to choose to move forward in recovery. In treatment, he makes the startling discovery that he is neither unique nor alone. Help is available, and he does have the power to seek it out. All of life opens up before him. Thus, treatment is not the dreadful end that the addict had envisioned; instead, it is the miraculous beginning of a journey down a road of endless possibility.

Introduced in the United States in 1825 by Joel Poinsett, poinsettias are a Christmas tradition. It’s no mystery as to why, with poinsettias representing 85 percent of all the potted plant sales during the holiday season. They are so ingrained in the holiday season that poinsettias even have their own day - December 12th. When you think of Christmas and flowers you automatically think of the poinsettia. Don’t think that Christmas Flowers are only limited to the poinsettia, or that they are they limited to the traditional pot or vase. Have you seen a classic Christmas centerpiece gracing the table? It is tasteful and beautiful!

Even though poinsettias dominate the season, the elegant amaryllis also conjures up feelings of winter cheer and holiday spirit. Not to be hidden in the shadows of the poinsettia are other holiday favorites such as the snow rose, the gorgeous white crocus and don’t forget the gardenia, another beautiful Christmas Flower. Receiving flowers at Christmas time warms the heart. They have a way of saying I’m thinking of you! When you step into a business during the crazy holiday season and you see Christmas flowers, they make you feel good. Have you ever been the recipient of flowers at Christmas time? It is always such a nice surprise. People just gravitate towards the color and elegance, having to compliment you on the beautiful the arrangement and ask who had them delivered. If you like flowers on your birthday, you will absolutely adore them during the holidays.

Generally when you think of the florist you automatically think of flowers and floral arrangements. But gifts are only limited to the imagination. A Christmas Gift Basket is a wonderful way to express your holiday wishes. Christmas Gift Baskets range from vineyard elegance to decadent dessert baskets. How about an Oregon fruit and cheese hamper or a chocolate-covered strawberries gift box? Gourmet coffee delights or Junior’s Famous Cheesecake is just a sampling of the wonderful Christmas gift baskets that can be delivered as a gift from you to a loved one or perhaps a co-worker or even the boss.

With one telephone call or just a click of the mouse you can have a wonderful Christmas Gift Basket delivered or perhaps the traditional poinsettia delivered. Christmas flowers are hand delivered by a local florist who has been carefully screened for artistic quality and high level of service. If you are in a pinch and need an arraignment delivered, there is often same day delivery available on florists delivered items. With same day delivery and a guarantee, you definitely cannot go wrong with having Christmas cheer hand delivered to whoever it is you love!

Marriage is a sacred courtship that must not be taken lightly. It seems that holy matrimony was revered more so back in the olden days rather than nowadays. My grandparents were married for over fifty years and had a mentality that divorce was never even an option. Once you make that vow and commitment then there is no turning back my friends, it is until death do us part. It seems as though that even if couples didn’t have the most intimate of relationships back then, then they still made it work out regardless. My Aunt and Uncle are a perfect example to me when it comes to a non-intimate relationship.

As far back as I can remember I have never once seen them display any form of physical affection or closeness. I would think to myself, how do they continue on like this if they don’t ever hug and kiss or show any signs of love towards each other? As I got older, I had realized that they just make it work even though it looks and feels stale. I also came to the conclusion that they probably express their love for each other in their own personal type of ways when others aren’t around. It appears that they have the mentality that says “Oh well, I’m stuck with this person, we might as well just put up with each other forever”. If I didn’t know them personally and I was an outsider looking in then I would probably wonder why they don’t seek out any marital help.

But however, because I know how they are they, I know that they are happy in their unhappiness. There are several different relatives from both sides of my family who have always seemed to be stagnating in their abilities to show affection and love towards their spouses. It seems very strange to me how people can continue living together like this without at least taking a swing at a marriage fitness program or trying to seek out some kind of marital guidance.

Luckily, most, if not all, of my aunt’s and uncles are still together and have been married for as long as I can remember, even if they aren’t the happiest of couples. Well, I guess you can never force someone into getting help if they personally don’t feel like they want or need help anyways. In today’s society it seems that a lot of people are going through marriages like they’re going through socks…This pair is all dirty and has holes, so I’m just going to get a new pair…and on goes the cycle.

Marriage is a lot of hard work if you want to be happy. My advice to any couples who is in the beginning stages of a relationship is to save marriage until you both believe whole-heartedly that you will want to be together forever. Make sure you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the person you are with will fight for you until the ends of time, and know for a fact that this is the person who would do everything in his or her power to stop divorce from ever entering the equation.

If you truly and genuinely believing that this person is the one for you and you want to go ahead and take the plunge then be ready for trials and tribulation my friends. Most of all don’t be afraid to seek out marriage counseling or a marriage fitness program to help keep you grounded. My motto is you must know who you are first before bringing someone in and making a part of your own life. It really is quite interesting to me to see how there has been such a dramatic change in today’s society’s divorce rate as opposed to the divorce rate in the 1960’s, 50’s, 40’s and 30’s…Well, you get the picture.

Each of the above nine acnes can be dealt with easily enough either by modifying their cause or by applying the”, Acne Cure-and certainly by a combination of both. That leaves four Form of acne that may in some cases require additional medical attention. They are acne conglobata, cystic acne, acne keloidalis nuchae (also called dermatitis papilaris capillitii), and acne fulminans.

There is also one other disease, called acne rosacea, that shows up usually in women, as redness and bumps that look very much like acne . However, it is not acne at all, but a different skin condition. Because its. genesis is quite different, it is not affected by either the basic Acne Cure, or by the approaches to cure intractable acne discussed below.

The most important point to reemphasize about each of these forms of acne is that their development is exactly the same as that of acne vulgaris. The differences are merely ones of initial causation and severity.

For example, acne conglobata is a severe form of acne that tends to run in families and ca uses scarring on the face and back, sometimes to a considerable extent. It is especially common in people with an extra Y chromosome (XYY).

Cystic acne is differentiated only by the fact that a larger percentage of its comedones (compared with normal acne) rupture inward to cause the cysts we have described earlier.

Keloidal acne is largely confined to dark-skinned individuals.once again, it is standard acne but of a type that unfortunately results in larger-than-normal numbers of keloids, particularly on the nape of the neck.

Acne fulminans is a particularly nasty, necrotic form of the disease where the cells in the area surrounding the acne cyst die out, leaving an unpleasant scar. It is accompanied by joint pain and even fever. Fortunately, it is quite rare.

There is no scientific explanation as to why some people fall victim to these more severe forms of acne. However, since all these forms of acne are caused by blockage of the follicular tubes, it follows that the severest cases occur when several different types of acne occur simultaneously-and aggravate one another.

Tanning booths are now a regular method to ensure people in ?sun poor’ countries can have that all over tan every day of the year. However, with more and more research coming out on the dangers and the risk of skin cancer, some are now turning to alternatives to the dangerous skin damaging practice. Across America (and other countries) there has been in increase in artificial techniques with spray tanning high up on that list. If you want to have a fake color that does not have streak marks then spraying seems to be the superior system over creams and lotions.

There are manufacturers now that offer spray tans that you can apply yourself. Whichever method you decide upon there are some simple but basic steps needed to ensure the best effect. Initially you need to exfoliate which will eliminate all the dead skin cells from your body. The last thing you want is to have dead skin dropping off and leaving lighter patches where it once was.

Once that stage has been carried out it is best to apply a moisturizer to your whole body. One of the biggest mistakes people make at this stage when applying a bronzer from a bottle or cream application is to forget to wear gloves, this leaves them with orange palms which is hard to disguise. Another tip, often ignored or forgotten, is to ensure that only a light coat is applied to the backs of the hands, feet and the joints as they show up darker and let everyone know that you have used a lotion or cream. Where a spray tanning system has been used it is quite normal, once it has been applied, to use some sort of towel to wipe any excess so streaking does not occur.

To avoid any smears, marks or cracking, you will need to relax and remain still, while the tanning agent dries. Don’t forget to wear some old clothes as fake tan is notorious for staining almost anything it touches. Dark clothing is obviously the best choice as even if it does stain, it won’t notice so readily and you won’t have to throw the clothing out. To get the most from your artificial tan, follow these guidelines and you won’t go far wrong.

Botox has the effect of making men and women appear younger than they really are; there are many myths about what it is and before a person starts a course, it is worth finding out more information. Before this can be done we need to go back a little in time to when this was originally discovered. The substance is derived from Botulinum toxin, discovered nearly five decades ago; researchers were looking into methods to treat neurological problems in people.

A treatment finally came in 1989 when the FDA granted approval for it to be used on these patients with visual conditions; conditions that caused uncontrollable blinking and crossed eyes were the first people to benefit. In the year 2000 was given the all clear for the of treatment cervical dystonia. it was found to be effective at helping patients with neck and shoulder contractions but other eye disorders were included at the same time. In their research, doctors discovered that Botox softened the frown lines between the eyebrows; it was after this discovery that it officially came into existence and was FDA approved for cosmetic use in 2002.

You see botox is a neuro toxin, meaning it paralyses the muscles it is injected into and makes them relax; eventually, over a period of several months, given enough of these injections, the frown lines start to soften. If this procedure is continued, in many instances the lines will soften so much they will seem to disappear; now the same procedure is used on other areas of the face where lines form, generally with age. The form used in these injections is one that has been cleaned up and diluted, posing no threat; this same botulism can make us very ill but when use in cosmetic surgery it is a purified form the Botulinum toxin.

Of course we all like to laugh and obviously use our faces for other gestures but the muscles controlling this are the cause of the line we see and obviously, these injections can stop this. When we are young and our skin is more elastic, these lines do not show but as we age the constant use of facial muscles leaves us with lines; many ?skin age reduction cream’ manufacturers have tried to produce creams that reduce facial line but this is the only treatment that works, currently. Because botox paralyzes the facial muscles, normal movement, expressions and gestures are almost impossible to make; that’s why people who have had these treatments can look like mannequins.

Depending on the amount of treatments, a person can look fairly normal but their facial gestures will be restricted so that the creases and lines do not show. Whilst popular this cosmetic treatment is still very expensive for what it is; the average cost of just one injection in the United States ranges from a few hundred dollars to in excess of 1,000 dollars, depending on where the injection is used. There is always some concern about new treatments and botox is no exception with many people worried about the long term effects of injections, but even so this has not stopped its popularity.

For most of us that take pride in the way we look, the thought of suffering with acne or Zits, may at first seem awful; but that doesn’t mean it’s something that cannot be tackled. A great deal of money is being spent researching the condition; now, some of these skin conditions are gradually being conquered. Although the number of acne skin care products and treatments might at first seem endless, they can actually be categorized into three areas:

    * Those that help prevent the condition

* Over-the-counter: Treatment

* Prescription: Dermatologist or Doctor, specialist cream or ointment

Preventative products are formulated to treat the skin in an effort to control the occurrence of acne; these include cleansers, make-up removers and other similar products that can help prevent the condition. Whilst many sufferers use these products there are even more who just want to keep their skin clean and conditioned; many use these products to protect their skin from the environment even if they do not have the acne condition. There are acne skin care products that are more specialized in there approach; they ensure the facial pores (and other areas) remain free of oil. These skin care products are designed to prevent this from happening.

Exfoliation skin peels have proved quite effective as a skin care treatment and at controlling the problem; these are easily obtainable in any drug store. These work towards removing dead skin cells, reducing the possibility of pore-clogging and bacteria development. Many other acne skin care products have become available over the counter and on the internet; they don’t usually require a prescription. A bacterium that aids the formation of acne is stopped by creams and cleansers that contain benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid; they work by removing the excess oil from the skin and halt the growth of acne.

It is often a good idea to start with a product that has lower concentration of benzoyl peroxide (e.g. 5 percent) to see how the skin responds; alpha-hydroxy-acid based moisturizers are a safer skin care regime alternative if there is a problem. It might just be a case of trial and error to find an acne skin care product that works; if finding something that works is proving difficult, your dermatologist should be able to help. Products that your dermatologist or doctor will recommend will only be available on prescription, they may include a course of antibiotics or topical ointments.

Your dermatologist may suggest a minor surgical procedure to remove the contents of pustules; however, sufferers are warned never to attempt this as it could lead to serious skin problems. An alternative that has been shown to work well is hormone therapy; hormonal changes are known to cause acne and such skin care treatments often effective. Constant research has paid off, and whilst they cannot cure the condition, it is becoming easier to treat.

Peoples’ preoccupation with anti-ageing skin care products that claim to make you look younger is not surprising; there is nothing wrong with wanting to continue looking young as you get older, in fact it is quite a healthy aim. This group of beauty products generally works by enabling the synthesis of collagen, the main protein of connective tissue in animals and the most abundant in our body; almost 25 percent of the protein in skin is actually collagen. Collagen is related to other natural substances which help to slow down the ageing process; known as antioxidants, they are the body’s method of slowing down the ageing process.

Probably the best known of these anti-oxidants is vitamin C although no-one really knows just how much we should have each day. The problem with vitamin C derived skin care treatments is they can become oxidized when exposed to the atmosphere, often even before they are used.

To overcome this problem, manufacturers use alternative skin care treatments that still provide the same benefits but not the high manufacturing costs. These alternative products are not as effective as vitamin C but vitamin E and lipoic acid are anti-oxidants and are now being used.

The body uses vitamin E as an antioxidant and to increase the natural defense we have against sickness; it has been linked to resistance to a number of conditions including certain types of cancer. Another of these is lipoic acid which is found in every cell of our body to help generate energy for us to live; it can help reverse much of the damage caused to the skin by ageing.

Phytochemicals aren’t produced by the body but are extracted from a number of plants and used in many anti-ageing skin care products to combat the signs of ageing. A further benefit of these phytochemicals is their ability to prevent the onset of certain cancers; for example:

    * Prostate Cancer

* Breast Cancer in Women (and occasionally men)

* Cancer of the Colon

These three types of cancer are also becoming a global problem.

It has also been discovered that there are anti-ageing benefits to vitamins B5, B6 and B12. Although the area of anti-ageing skin care products is huge, more is being learnt about the whole ageing process and about natural products that can reduce the effects it has on our bodies as well as our skin. Although current regimes are quite effective, there are many ways to combat the effects of time; there is still a long way to go however, before methods that successfully reduce the effects of age are commonplace.

Hopefully, these challenges will get resolved in due course and better and cheaper anti-ageing skin care products will be produced. However, man-made skin care regimes should be used only as a supplement; we must not forget however, that there are many more natural methods we can all use to reduce the signs of aging on a regular basis. Regular sleep patterns, exercise, a good healthy diet and less stress will all contribute to reducing the signs of ageing, for instance!

Beneath the skin are a large number of fat cells that form those orange peel type effects everyone knows as cellulite; most areas of the body can experience its effects but sufferers mainly have it below the abdomen. Although additional fat is normal in women, this is not just a problem exclusive to overweight women; women who are naturally slim can also suffer with this unsightly problem.

You see as the collection of fats push against the connective tissue, it tends to cause the surface of the skin to dimple or pucker and visually look lumpy; giving you what is referred to as cellulite. The real cause of is unknown so is the reasons why some women are more prone to suffering with it than others but scientists believe that it could be due to the way the cells are structured beneath the skin of each individual.

One thing is certain though and that is as a persons age increases, the amount of this fatty tissue increases in the same way that wrinkles also form which is probably due to the reduction of the two components that keep the skin looking young; collagen and elastin. Whilst many would disagree, this condition is often referred to a hormone imbalance problem as men almost never have this happen to them.

The presence of cellulite is not always prominent, unless one tries to pinch the upper skin of one’s thigh; should it feel lumpy then you most certainly have it but a woman should not feel bad about having it, since most have this condition to a certain degree. Although it may not be known what causes, some factors seem to contribute to its build up including age, sex, extra fat carried and skin thickness all seem to aid the formation.

As medical science cannot prove conclusively what causes the problem, it makes it difficult creating a cure even though a number have been tried including special burning creams. Where cellulite removal massage is offered at a clinic, all that is done is deep tissue massage which just masks the affect so it cannot be seen as readily.

Liposuction has now started to be used to try and remove the fat cells and even by injecting drugs directly into the affected sacks directly. The problem with liposuction is not really the correct therapy for removing this type of fat but is for deeper fats, not those stuck in connective tissue, so it cannot claim to be a best treatment for cellulite.

A number of cosmetic manufacturers claim their creams are an effective method of removing the fat cells but it would seem these are just a method of masking the condition making it less visible and so far no definitive treatment exists. Many people believe that the only realistic way to reduce the amount of fatty tissue a person has is to follow a controlled diet plan and exercise regularly which will gradually burn off much of the body fat including that found in the tissues of the thighs and buttocks.

Many of the toxins that aid cellulite formation in the cells can be removed by drinking plenty of water every day not to mention the other health benefits of drinking water which include weight reduction.
